Dele linked up with Serie A side Como, with former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas prepared to take a calculated gamble on the ex-England international — who had seen his contract run out at Everton.
The 29-year-old took in just one appearance for Como — which lasted less than 10 minutes after he saw red in a clash with AC Milan. With questions being asked of his form and fitness, Dele has been released as a free agent once more.
A return to English football is being speculated on, but claims that Birmingham will not be taking a punt. They are said to have “looked into” an agreement but have “decided the deal is not right for them after checking the conditions”.
