That achievement has been recognised after rejoining the ranks at Inter Miami. Messi is unable to take to the field at present, with an unfortunate ankle injury suffered on Copa final duty. He had to wear a protective boot when being paraded to supporters at Chase Stadium.
Messi was presented with a unique gift by Inter Miami prior to their MLS clash with the Chicago Fire, with a special video also pieced together in his honour. Beckham has added his voice to those saluting the eight-time Ballon d'or winner.
Ex-England captain Beckham, who is now a co-owner in South Florida, also delighted in seeing the Herons wear their new third kit for the first time – despite being on home soil – with said jersey paying homage to the sporting “heritage” of Miami.
